My Fenix 5+ barometer failed and the two things you notice when this happens are the altimeter & temperature stop working. You can try dowsing the port but if not then you're probably looking at a replaced unit
Heart Rate Sensor Accuracy: The FR935 includes Garminโ€™s Elevate optical HR sensor built into the bottom of it, which is used both in workouts as well as in 24ร—7 continual HR monitoring mode. Just like the Fenix 5, the FR935โ€™s optical sensor got a slight overhaul/upgrade, most notably when in 24ร—7 mode. Inaccurate altimeter, should I factory reset? GaryMort over 3 years ago. My wife and I both have Fenix 6 Pro watches (latest 8.10 SW) and until recently both recorded a very similar elevation gain for the runs we do together, which I should expect. However, for the past week my elevation has be approximately 100ft more than my wife's which is a Ive had an old Forerunner and then a couple of Vivo's and then a Fenix 5S. Now I have a Fenix 5X. I never had any issues until I got the Fenix 5S. I;ve had it for not even a year when I noticed that the GPS was weird. It would just stop recording GPS even when the activity (run) is still going and it is recording other metrics (steps, strides Fix potential issues with altimeter and barometer readings. Changes made from version 14.73 to 15.00: Fixed an issue where one wasn't able to create custom alerts within an activity. Fixed distance and time values for tracks/routes synced from Garmin Explore. Fixed an issue where Training status would no longer update via Physio TrueUp.
Let me begin by "thanking" Garmin Support Italy, for not replying at my email anymore. I've sent them an email, explaining the problems I have with my Fenix 5x Plus and they replied, telling me the procedure to reset my watch. Knowing it will not solve my problem, I did it anyway, worked fine for a couple of hours, but after that, SAME ISSUES!
Here is my email from garmin on same issue: step 1: I would next recommend cleaning the watch: Run low pressure, warm water over the sensor port Gently remove any visible debris. IMPORTANT: Do not put any objects into the sensor port! Shake away excess water and allow to air dry Calibrate the altimeter. step 2: I do have one last test I would
Forerunner over 5 years ago. I got the auto-calibration "NOT during the activity" set to ON. Additionally i set the calibration method to using DHM. However, when i check the altitude from time to time during the day, it gives me wrong readings that never get corrected. I thought, the watch would recalibrate automatically from time to time in
Added Connect IQ System 5 support. Improved altitude calibration. Updated to allow up to 55 teeth on rear gear. Fixed an issue where bike lights could turn on outside an activity. Fixed an issue of receiving multiple inReach lost connection messages. Fixed an issue with getting stuck in device pairing mode. Added new alert to inform user that Since updating my unit, the altimeter consistently varies wildly. For example, every morning my unit (which I sync at night at my home) s significantly less than it should be. My home is at 162m ASL but since the v7.00 update, leaving it on my counter over night, I will wake up to it showing 40m or even a few times -100m, etc. It appears the altimeter is actually working because when I calibrate it or the barometer manually I can watch it register and update the altitude dynamically. I've factory reset, soaked it for a half hour in warm soapy water, clean it regularly and meticulously, etc. Unit is around one year old. .
